"VACANCY—For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination with vintage neon signs. And not just the restored beauties; I love the rusted old decaying road signs that still hang on, marking and quite often out-living the motels and gas stations they represent. The inspiration behind this trip was out of a passion to explore a side of Americana rarely seen in modern times and to also witness and document some of the unique forms of advertising these businesses used to survive. In the end, I found myself haunted by these frail communities where little more than the wind and tumbleweed blow through and the neon sign still offers a beacon of hope."
